Why should we get double points, the drivers don't, do they ? :)

Normal points and pick car number, sounds the way to go for me.

PI isn't for a few months, so let me get the other two rounds out of the way and Winton, then we can worry about it.

Confirmation on cars and drivers don't need to be finalised until just before Prac on the Friday, so that will need to be factored in.

Thank you for the patience. After just moving house...i am moving again, so the next 2 weeks will be nuts.  :D

So; have we decided on this? What about just tipping the primary driver and assuming the second one? Do points get awarded for each individual driver no matter who they are paired with?

That's it; I'm all out of ideas.

hmm makes it tactical now for the 2 different driver races

Agree on the car no for overall race result but shouldn't we nominate the driver name for pole?

Agree on the car no for overall race result but shouldn't we nominate the driver name for pole?

Problem with that is the way the event is being run... On Saturday they have two Qual's on, 1 for Drive A & 1 for Driver B (who those drivers are you will not know till just before the first) Then they have the two Races that afternoon (1 pit stop for tyers in either race) for each Driver and the overall finishing of both races will decide the grid for the 500 on Sunday.

This mite explain it a little bit better:

Quote
For the first time in the history of the endurance event, two individual races will be held on Saturday with each co-driver contesting one or the other. Teams will decide which driver competes in which race but their identity will not be known until all teams have nominated their drivers.

Adding to the intrigue will be that each car is required to complete one compulsory pit stop for a tyre change in either of the two races. Again the teams will make their own decision in which race they choose to change tyres.

“It’s an innovation that will lead to the ultimate in strategy and it will be intriguing to see what teams choose to do,” said Shane Howard, V8 Supercars Australia General Manager of Events and Motorsport.

“There will be some eagle eyes in pit lane for the first race to see who they are lining up against and then when each team chooses to pit. For the fans it will be sensational.”

The first two races are short, 15-lap sprints. They will count for only one third of the points on offer for the weekend but will decide the composition of the grid for Sunday’s famous L&H 500 which is being held at the World class Phillip Island circuit for the first time.

“While we are adding the two short Saturday races the Sunday L&H 500 remains the emphasis of the weekend and the winner of the L&H 500 will be the car that crosses the line first on Sunday,” Mr Howard said.

“But the Saturday races set the all-important grid, decide pole position and count for Championship points so in their own right will be integral parts of the L&H 500 and the Championship picture.”

The Seven Network will increase its coverage of the L&H 500 to take these new developments to all fans around Australia on the Saturday, as well as full live coverage of Sunday’s main race.

OK I get the fact that pole for the Enduro is taken from the two races, just as pole for races 2 and 3 are taken from the first two races at a sprtint round.
Perhaps for tipping purposes we should call it fastest lap in the qualitying sessions which ever qually that occurs in.

murphy/j. richards will be driving car 3, not 51 as mentioned in the tipping thread

http://www.v8supercar.com.au/content/hero_news/september_08/richards_makes_100th_start_with_murph/

does this mean that tips for car 51 will translate across to murph and jason? there could be other examples as well, because i think richo and frosty will be in #6.

Why don't we just stick to the way we've always done it by naming the driver ??

If you pick say Jason Richards to win, you automatically pick Moaning Murphy as well.... regardless of the car number.

Its not that hard people, Whats so hard with a car # ?????????? or driver ????

Either way you get the same points????

Car 1
Car 2
Car 3
etc........

Driver 1
Drver 2
Driver 3
Bla Bla............................

Pole is the the # 1 grid spot for the 500.

The problem is that Pole will be decided by the combined finishing of the first two races from BOTH drivers. The shootout/qual is completed twice..once for Driver A and once for Driver B

Can we please have a moderator sort this out before we all go nuts?? (Don't wait for Louie, she has gone else where)

V8SC are certainly making it hard to figure out a method aren't they??  Be interesting to see how the format goes.

As for how we pick, I'm not fussed.  It's doing my head in just trying to figure out how the whole weekend will be run anyways...

Yep, which is determined by points recieved from both drivers races on the Sat. So please nominate a car # to be on pole for the Sat. Oh the shhh, you can't go past #5 can ya  :P
