Fantasy F1 Discussion Here
« on: February 26, 2008, 12:39:32 am »
I thought I might have first crack at it.

I chose Webber because I thought It's about bloody time he had a good year and I know Alonso wont be too far away from the points. BMW should get consistant points finishers this season too.

Alonso is a bit of a dark horse. Renault's rumored W-wing could shoot them to the front of the grid, and the rest of your team should collect some solid points.

I went with Hamilton and McLaren for obvious reasons. That left me with Trulli who should hopefully pick some points up in quali, and Renault (Red Bull) is the best of whats left, though it's a bit of a risk, as it could lose me points if its unreliable.
What does a scanner see? I mean, really see? Into the head? Down into the heart? Does it see into me--into us--clearly or darkly? I hope it does, see clearly, because I can't any longer these days see into myself.

Now I've had a think about it, i feel i over spent with Raikkonen and Rosberg. I think Williams may have a little something up their sleeve but the speculation at the start of the season is always fun!

Raikkonen is a safe bet, Rosberg and Williams have looked solid in testing, I wouldn't be surprised if they end up the third best team this season.

Most people are probably going to throw away their engine spend, but picking Ferrari or Mercedes is a cheap way to pick up a consistent 10+ points.

I find it pretty amazing how technical a tipping comp can be!! I think you'll do well out of Lewis and Mac. I hope they can keep Ferrari in check this year.

Hunka Spunk Racing Official Press Release 28/02/08

Hunka Spunk Racing (HSR) are proud to announce their participation in the 2008 AMF F1 Fantasy Championship. While the team is new to this series, they are hoping that their vast experience in other forms of motorsport and current resources will drive them towards taking out the trophy.
HSR are pleased to announce their major sponsors for the 2008 championship, Winnebago Industries, Smirnoff Vodka and Krispy Kreme. Together, these teams represent excellence in each of their fields, and pool their resources to fight for the 2008 championship.

HSR have secured the services of two accomplished drivers. Firstly, Lewis Hamilton, who in 2007 finished second in his rookie year of Formula 1. Lewis impressed the Formula 1 paddock with his speed, endurance and qualifying skill. HSR hopes Lewis will continue in this fashion for the 2008 season.  Also signed was Sebastian Bourdais. Sebastian has competed in the American Champ Car Series racing for Newman-Hass for many years, and has been awarded the championship trophy four years running. Sebastian brings with him the fire and experience which will no doubt help his Formula 1 campaign.  Also signed within the last two days was Christian Klein and a HSR Williams/ Renault test driver.

As well as these three drivers, HSR has managed to secure three of the biggest names in Formula 1 Engineering. Frank Williams made his debut in Formula 1, 39 years ago, and along side his long term business partner Patrick Head will head up the Engineering Department. HSR would also like to announce their acquisition of Denis Chevrier who will fill our Head Of Engine Track Operations Division. Leading the HSR team will be Team Principle/Owner Louise Courtney.  Louise Courtney has been involved in motor sport her entire life is also a silent partner in the Australian V8 Supercar team Stone Brothers Racing (SBR) who runs two Ford cars, with drivers James Courtney and Shane Van Gisbergen.

HSR has recently purchased space is Brisbane, Australia and will produce their own engine and chassis parts. There will also be a possibility of supplying other teams in the future years. Many test liveries with a red and silver theme has been designed for the 2008 season, but a confirmation on final design is yet to be made. This is expected to be revealed at the first round of the season in Melbourne Australia.

Team Principle/Owner Louise Courtney commented today:

“HSR are committed in 2008 to showing results we know we are capable of. This may be our first year in the competition, but the acquisition of such talented drivers and a well knowledge Engineering and Technical team will show.
The whole team is very excited to be apart of such a formidable showcase of motor sport talent. To put it simply, bring it on”.

Lewis Hamilton :

“I am very excited by the move to HSR. The team has fitted together very well, and are ready to come out firing for the 2008 season. Louise and I have talked a length about what is required from me this year, and I am here to continue on with my 2007 success and take out the 2008 championship trophy. “

Sebastion Bourdais:

“ Testing has been proceeding very well. I have adapted to the HSR Williams/ Renault car very quickly and have been posting comparable times to Lewis and last years champion Kimi. The lack of traction control hasn’t caused myself any issues. I was use to that from the Champ Cars. My four championship wins with Newman-Hass has prepared me for my Formula 1 career. I am looking forward to getting out there and competing with Lewis for the championship”

I picked Rebull as the chassis on the belive that Newy takes two years to get the areo's right and then in the third year the car just flies.
Mercedes as the engine because it should always be in the top five this year.
On the diver's side of things i picked Alonso on the belive that he will do everything he can to finish in front of Hamilton and Webber because if Newy has made that Redbull fast then he should at least finish in the top five for most of the year.
Now i cant wait untill Melbourne even more than before!

Ah the Press relations department a HSR has excelled.
Great announcement and I understand more companies are lining up to sign sponsorship deals.
Meanwhile the PR department are ensuring that the team principal avoids learning RonSpeak so that at podium Press Conferences the working Media will have some idea what to report.

Brilliant Lou  :checkerflag: :D

Well Lou, i can't beat that, but i found an article in  :bull: :siht: weekly;

FNQ engineering has entered the frey that is F1. With little experience to guide them through the starting process, they have clearly gone for drivers that they can draw from. It will be an interesting team to watch with all the knowledge that they have gathered from running equipment in high maintenence terrain such as Cape York and Fraser Island. With reliability being paramount in F1, they should know how to build a car that is reasonably bulletproof, but the question remains, can they fight for the podium?
Pre season testing has shown that the car is not a WCC contender, however the driver line up of Kimi Raikonnen and Nico Rosberg hints to the "no  :bull: :siht:  needed" style of the team. Both of these drivers know how to be quick and with Nico, it is only a matter of time before he explodes ont the podium with alarming frequency. Kimi has already proven his worth. Neither of this pair will play the politics card through the season, as we saw with some teams last year, both are very focused on the job of winning races. So we could expect this team to be quiet achivers in the FNQE RBR/FI.
Technically, the RBR/FI hybrid should be a genuine mid-fielder. The ferrari engine with it's relability coupled to the technical brillance of the Newey/Willis RBR chassis will give Kimi and Nico the chance to fight for a podium from about mid-season. With input from talented Kimi and up&coming Rosberg, we can expect this car to develop fairly well. The engineering base is as talented as the drivers, with various experience. What they did lack in F1 experience should be overcome very shortly, if not already.
Sponsors have been forthcoming, Qantas, Suncorp Metway and Rio-Tinto signing major deals rumoured to be between 10-15 million each with Regional airlines and NQX rumoured to be worth 5 million each to the Far North Queensland based engineering outfit. It is easy to see the parralells drawn with these companies, as they all have Large FNQ bases themselves. With the straight shooting "Chocko" as team principle and well known local connections, it was no challenge to find sponsors.
"With my local conections, it was no challenge to find sponsors." said Chocko at the team launch.
"Everything is in place and now we just have to watch and see if it will come together. There are alot of hard workers amongst us, we all want to be at the pointy end of the paddock and the most important thing is that everyone is hungry. With Kimi and Nico rattling every cage to try and get another .1 out of the car, they won't stop until they have exhausted every avenue. Qantas has a great aero facility in Cairns, Rio has everything we need supplied and Suncorp is doing alot of funding. Regional and NQX help us get everything in and out of here. We should be on top of things by mid-season."
Kimi had this to add.
"It's  :fcuk:ing hot here."
Nico had this to say,
"New team, new town, we should be ok."
We all wait to see how this isolated small team will cope.
R5 could've been a great car

Low Cost Formula One is proud to be giving any one the chance to drive the a LCF1 spear car at any circuit in the world (excluding street circuits and the circuits open wheelers carn't race on) it can be a road circuit ,an oval or a privet air filed. You would of corse have to pay for the cost of transport, circuit hire and other expendetur with an added 1 millon dollers (us) per day. No rules exept for you brake it, you pay for it.
