Trading Period Rules - READ CAREFULLY!!!!!!!

Welcome to the first trading period, the rules are a little different this season from last year so don't assume it works the old way!

This year the budget cap has been increased to 100 as you know and along with it is something called the Luxury Tax. What is the Luxury Tax? Well, during the course of the season should your teams total value exceed the 100 budget cap, your team will incur a penalty at each race of -1 point for each dollar your are over the budget cap.

For example...
Team,Driver 1,Cost,Driver 2,Cost,Chassis,Cost,Engine,Cost,Total
Team Moneybags     ,Kimi Raikkonen     ,23   ,Jenson Button     ,36   ,Brawn GP     ,62   ,BMW     ,9   ,  130
Team Moneybags has a total budget of 130, that is +30 over the budget cap so for each round, assuming those values stayed the same, Team Moneybags would receive a 30 point penalty.

Does the Luxury Tax work retrospectively?
No, you will not lose any points for races that have been run so far because when those races were run, your team was under the budget cap.

How does this effect trading components?
It won't, other than making top teams consider cutting the budget a bit or a couple of bad races and their expensive All Star could end up costing them more than a few broken front wings!

So how does trading components work again?
1) Component Swapping
There are two ways you can change your team around. The first way is easy, you can simply swap a component you have for a component of equal or lesser value. For example let's say Team Moneybags wants to cut Raikkonen (22) for a driver like Kovalainen (18), because Kovalainen is less expensive than Raikkonen, a direct swap can be made.

2) Team Restructure
A team restructure involves dropping everything from the top down. You can then reselect your team just as you did when you originally signed up, but remember, if you choose this option the team restructure MUST come in under the 100 budget cap.

How do I submit my changes?
Please use the following format.

Example 1 - Component Trade
Team Name:  Team Moneybag
SWAP: Driver #1:  Kimi Raikkonen - 23
FOR: Heikki Kovalainen - 18

SWAP: Chassis: BrawnGP - 64
FOR: Red Bull - 50

SWAP: Hard Tyres
FOR: Soft Tyres

Example 2 - Team Restructure
Team Name:  teamName
Driver #1:  driverName - Cost
Driver #2:  driverName - Cost
Chassis:  chassisName - Cost
Engine:  engineName - Cost
Tyre Compound:  Hard/Soft
Total Cost: totalCost

Due to the one week turnaround between China and Bahrain, this trading period will stay open until next Wednesday 29th, 11:59 PM AET

If you want your changes applied for this weeks race, please have them submitted by Friday 24th, 12:00 PM AET, that's Midday of this Friday.

Good luck and happy trading.

While neither personel or suppliers at Team Geriatric are performing to their market potential, the aged and grumpy principal of the team OT has decided that a contract is a contract, and will stick with his present structure.
"These new budget cap measures introduced by FIA at this stage of the season are an affront to the view of F1 as the pinacle of Motor Sport", he thundered, almost spilling his glass of red as he thumped the table.
"Team Geriatric wil be engaging a top silk from the Inns of Court to take this matter to the World Motor Sport Council". he said.
"We started the season with a long term plan and these latest developments could upset our reputation for integrity and loyalty to our staff and our suppliers" he added.
"Pending the hearing of our appeal, and the WMSC providing presents to support this action we will be retaining our current status," He concluded.
Scources close to Team Geriatric management said that they sheeted home this decision to penalise teams who retained members of a succesful existing team to a Bernie Ecclestone inspired move to gather improved TV ratings in Lower Slobovia.

Edit: The word presents in the Prtess release was a typo and Team Geriatric strongly denies that any effort is being made to bribe the WMSC. The word should have been precedents although this would imply consistency, a factor frequently lacking in FIA or WMSC judgenents.

After three lacklustre GPs Bits and Pieces Racing has cleaned out its personel.Starting from factory staff and key leading engineers to pit lane personel and coffee girl.We will leave no stone unturned to get back up the ladder. All ferrari interests will be axed along with bmw as they clearly cannot be trusted.

Due to the new budget constraints, the engineers have decided that instead of protesting, they will get on with the job .
Here's the new team from Race Engineering
Driver#1 Webber                        $27

Driver#2 Fisi                              $ 8

Chassis   Red Bull                       $50

Engine    Mercedes (Brawn GP)     $14

Tyres     Soft

Total                                        $99

The decision was based on the performance of the RBR coming into the euro rounds along with the older more experienced drivers who can finish. Kimi is now having a drink on the yacht, but we wish him well, no matter which gorrilla suit he wears nor which ice cream he eats. Vettel has been dumped in preference to Webber, who we believe will start to get the hunger he has shown previously which put him beside Schumi on the grid, front row Sepang 2002.

R5 could've been a great car

Well what a start, not really much I can say about that dismal performance. It can only get better from here.

I still remain confident that with the push to pass and new aero development McLaren will come up with the goods to catch the Brawn GP cars, for this reason I will keep Lewis in the team. With the Red Bulls current speed and the potential to get even more I will switch out Hiekki for Sebastian Vettel in the #2 seat.
Surprisingly despite the terrible start to the competition this will be the only change to my team.

Change
Driver 2   Out   Heikki Kovalainen
Driver 2   In   Sebastian Vettel

New Team make-up is.
Driver 1   Lewis Hamilton   22
Driver 2   Sebastian Vettel   29
Tyre   Hard      0
Chassis   McLaren      32
Engine   Renault (RB)   13

Team Baltar is pleased to announce a reunion with last years world Champion, Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton will be replacing Kimi Raikkonen after the Finn is believed to have had a falling out with team management over his commitment although both parties deny this, siting financial reasons due to the split. A source close to the team said team owner Matt was livid when Raikkonen took the last can of Coke from the fridge during the Malaysian Grand Prix and although it is unlikely to be the terminal reason for the relationship breaking down, it certainly couldn't have helped.

Out Driver #1: Raikkonen

.......Raikkonen took the last can of Coke from the fridge during the Malaysian Grand Prix .....

Its all lies..... Trulli it is.    Recordings of a 'phone conversation between Ron and Hamilton reveal the following conversation  :hmm: :P ;)

Ron:  "Lewis You need to pass the coke now"

Lewis: "But do I have to, its rightfully mine, I earnt that ....."

Ron:  "You need to pass the coke now, repeat, Pass the coke now"

Lewis: "I have no choice, I have to pass it. Here you go.  Can you ask Charlie his views on that.  I had to pass it."

Ron:  "Im just trying to get on to Charlie now.  I will get back to you.  In the meantime stay in that position.... "

Team Restructure

Team Padackles Racing principal BlackEmber had this to say about her high staff turnover so early in the season:

"Though it's breaking my heart, I think I've gotta give my pretty, pretty Kimi the arse - he's just not having any luck with that bloody Ferrari of his.  And poor ol' Séb has not had the best of starts either, and my total points is looking woefull.  Therefore I have made wholesale changes to the team in the hopes of finally getting some decent runs on the board."

Driver #1:  Jarno Trulli 26
