Trading Period Rules - READ CAREFULLY!!!!!!!

Welcome to the first trading period, the rules are a little different this season from last year so don't assume it works the old way!

This year the budget cap has been increased to 100 as you know and along with it is something called the Luxury Tax. What is the Luxury Tax? Well, during the course of the season should your teams total value exceed the 100 budget cap, your team will incur a penalty at each race of -1 point for each dollar your are over the budget cap.

For example...
Team,Driver 1,Cost,Driver 2,Cost,Chassis,Cost,Engine,Cost,Total
Team Moneybags     ,Kimi Raikkonen     ,23   ,Jenson Button     ,36   ,Brawn GP     ,62   ,BMW     ,9   ,  130
Team Moneybags has a total budget of 130, that is +30 over the budget cap so for each round, assuming those values stayed the same, Team Moneybags would receive a 30 point penalty.

Does the Luxury Tax work retrospectively?
No, you will not lose any points for races that have been run so far because when those races were run, your team was under the budget cap.

How does this effect trading components?
It won't, other than making top teams consider cutting the budget a bit or a couple of bad races and their expensive All Star could end up costing them more than a few broken front wings!

So how does trading components work again?
1) Component Swapping
There are two ways you can change your team around. The first way is easy, you can simply swap a component you have for a component of equal or lesser value. For example let's say Team Moneybags wants to cut Raikkonen (22) for a driver like Kovalainen (18), because Kovalainen is less expensive than Raikkonen, a direct swap can be made.

2) Team Restructure
A team restructure involves dropping everything from the top down. You can then reselect your team just as you did when you originally signed up, but remember, if you choose this option the team restructure MUST come in under the 100 budget cap.

How do I submit my changes?
Please use the following format.

Example 1 - Component Trade
Team Name:  Team Moneybag
SWAP: Driver #1:  Kimi Raikkonen - 23
FOR: Heikki Kovalainen - 18

SWAP: Chassis: BrawnGP - 64
FOR: Red Bull - 50

SWAP: Hard Tyres
FOR: Soft Tyres

Example 2 - Team Restructure
Team Name:  teamName
Driver #1:  driverName - Cost
Driver #2:  driverName - Cost
Chassis:  chassisName - Cost
Engine:  engineName - Cost
Tyre Compound:  Hard/Soft
Total Cost: totalCost

Due to this going up late, this trading period will stay open until next Wednesday 10th, 11:59 PM AET

If you want your changes applied for this weeks race, please have them submitted by Friday 5th, 12:00 PM AET, that's Midday of this Friday.

Good luck and happy trading.

In a statement issued today to Pittpass columnist Chris Sylt the team principal of Ecurie Geriatric, OldTony hit out at the FIA and FOM.
"At this time of dispute in Formula One  Ecurie Geriatric is determined to maintain loyalty to the other members of FOTA."
"We thus have decided to stick with our original selection in protest at the imposition of the Bernie Tax, and this imposition of Budget caps and the threat of a two tier competition."
"We strenuously deny that our technical department is working on 22.000rpm engines or unlimmited storage for KERS. The reports of high pitched screams from our engine test cell were utterances of frustration at current regs or replays of James Allen commentary from Lewis Hamilton wins."
"We intend to take our protests to the highest authority, the next step being the EU Commission in Strasbourg. Our new Gold Coast based lawyers, Slap, Writ and Sly, will be taking action as soon as our fee is deposited in the Luxembourg Bank, and they can finish the defence of Gold Coast and Townsville based investment interests and certain Sunshine Coast based Appliance makers."
Meanwhile it is reported that the Brazilian driving team are practicing a joint Samba for when they join each other on the Podium in Turkey, and while that engine maker Ferrari are improving reliability. Reportedly there is some concern over the apparent loss of focus at the Toyota chassis plant.
Ecurie Geriatric maintains it's current team.

                                                             OFFICIAL TEAM STATEMENT

Team Piston Broke principal, Everso Biggyballies, has today announced the appointment of new accounting partner, Monaco based 'Slavica, Armani, and Tamara' to investigate ways of minimising payments of the Bernie Tax.

Team Principle Everso Biggyballies was pleased to introduce the Accounting conglomerates CEO, Ms. Slavica, who said convincingly to the media, "The Long and the short of it is that I have a history of successfully  minimising Bernie benefits wherever possible, and ultimately I forsee no problems in totally divorcing this issue from Team Piston Broke's ongoing focus, which remains to win what has remained a dream, the AMF Fantasy.  We share the same balls out committment and approach.  Bernie taxes are an insignificant irritant, akin to a little prick (from a thorn) No one will make a Turkey out of us. Stuff 'em all.  I have blown bigger things than Bernie out in bubbles before......

EB, pictured with Slavica. added, Whilst we will always try to minimise the effects of any draconian taxes, we remain totally opposed to any budget caps of any sort, and are happy to continue to flaunt our attributes.  I foresee no changes in our overall team structure, and have every faith that the poor form shown by our BMW engines will be reversed and we find them more suited to the forthcoming races.

Baltar Grandprix Announces Changes

Admittedly the McLaren gamble failed, and a few spotty races from Toyota have seen Baltar GP fall behind the leading pack. Lewis Hamilton will be parting ways with the team along with his Mercedes engine sponsorship. Baltar is looked to the land of the rising sun to help boost the teams prospects bringing in Toyota's Jarno Trulli alongside a Williams Toyota power plant for the next few races. It will be interesting to see how things turn out for BaltarGP, as rumors suggest the teams owners turned away a lucrative Red Bull package deal in order to continue their relationship with Jenson Button.

Swap
   Lewis Hamilton - 22
For
   Jarno Trulli - 22

Swap
   Mercedes Engine - 10
For
   Toyota (Williams) - 9
