USA vs AUS Nitro Funny Car racing will be front and centre at Willowbank Raceway this January, with the International New Year Series set to blast onto the track over two rounds on January 2 and 16.

For those still hunting the perfect Christmas gift for that hard-to-buy-for someone, the chance to see USA veteran Jack Wyatt taking the challenge to Australian Nitro Funny Car racers Ricky Steffens, Damien Harris and Chris Stipanovich could be just the ticket.

Queenslanders Harris and Steffens will take the challenge to the American for round one, before New South Welshman Stipanovich joins them in the battle for national pride at round two.

Willowbank Raceway Managing Director Steve Bettes said the event would provide the perfect opportunity for a high-octane family night out.

“With free children’s rides, fireworks and free event entry for children 13 and under – the event presents the perfect family night out during this holiday season,” said Bettes.

“Not only will the Nitro racing headline act feature, but there will also be a bumper support program, with the United States’ Gary Densham, who won the 2009 series, aboard his Nostalgia Nitro Funny Car, and at round two – Pro Street and Pro FX exhibition runs, so there will be something for everyone.”

Tickets start from as little as $45.00 (less for student’s with ID) and are available online at www.willowbankraceway.com.au.

The USA vs AUS Nitro Funny Car challenge will run in a “Chicago Shootout” format at 6.00pm (round one), 8.00pm (round two) and 10.00pm (final – where the fastest Australian will compete against Wyatt for national pride) over both rounds.

Also taking to the track will be a massive support category featuring Supercharged Outlaws, Dragsters, Hot Sedans and Motorbikes, and at round two, the Turbocharged, High Tech, 6 second 300kmh PRO FX Coupes and a massive field of Pro Street Cars.
