NHRA: O'Reilly Spring Nationals
« on: April 04, 2009, 01:42:08 pm »
Finals Results from the event last week and there is an event this weekend as well.
Sorry for it being late but I have had  some health issues with my little dog  and he comes before everything

Top Fuel Dragster

(W) Tony Schumacher (U.S. Army Dragster)       (0.059)      3.881 @ 314.75mph
 (L) Cory McClenathan (Fram Dragster)              (0.098)     3.880 @ 313.66mph

This is the sixth time these two have faced off in a final round. Schumacher holds a 3-2 edge, with two of those wins coming as teamates, last year. Schumacher also won their only prior Houston final round, in '05. Cory Mac has been in three prior finals here, winning in '98. Schumacher has been in four prior finals here, his only win being in the '05 faceoff with McClenathan.

On a holeshot, Schumacher makes it three-for-three against his teammate in final rounds and two-for-two against his teammate here. That's also the 125th win for Team Schumacher and a wrapup for this event.

Funny Car

 (W) Ashley Force Hood (Castrol GTX Mustang)    (0.092)    4.122 @ 306.19mph
 (L) Jack Beckman (Valvoline/MTS Charger)         (0.097)    4.227 @ 303.43mph

They leave together then it was all Force Hood for her second National event win. She was increasing her lead at every increment going down the track.

Pro Stock Car

 (W) Ron Krisher (Valvoline Cobalt)                (0.116)      6.587 @ 211.00mph
 (L) Jeg Coughlin (Jegs.com Cobalt)              (0.025)      7.051 @ 165.94mph

The Pro Stock winner here has never come from the bottom half of the ladder and that continues to be the case, these two coming from the sixth and eighth starting spots. Coughlin is 27-12 against Krisher in prior events, 2-0 in final rounds. This is Coughlin's 11th appearance here in Pro Stock. Coughlin won here in Pro Stock in '00 and in Super Stock in '94. This is Krisher's first final round at the Houston Spring event.

Krisher gave up a tenth at the tree and ran him down - Coughlin's car faltering around the 330-foot mark. Krisher gets the win, from the eighth position on the ladder, and nobody has done that here before. Bizarre!! Ron Krisher's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.136), 330 ft(0.031), 660ft(0.063), 1,000ft(0.144). MOV: 0.3731 seconds (approximately 91 feet). That's Krisher's seventh event win, in 15 final rounds.

Pro Stock Motorcycle

(W) Craig Treble (Team Scream Suzuki)       (0.040)     6.915 @ 193.46mph
 (L) Douglas Horne (Horne Racing )              (0.011)     7.260 @ 155.60mph

Horne with the starting line advantage, but then spun the tire and Treble had the difference made up by the time he crossed the finish line. Treble will collect his 13th Wally.

Results Page. **scroll down to the last event in March** -  worth reading as there is some good races and some impressive speeds set by the Pro Stock Cars

****  EDIT  ****
A big thanks to  Chad for the reminder about Steve Harker...( my mind has been elsewhere this week.)

Top Alcohol Funny Car

 (W) Steve Harker (Monte Carlo)                           (0.070)      5.638 @ 227.31mph
 (L) Marty Nothstein (Permatex/Texas Roadhouse I -0.031(R)    5.619 @ 259.51 mph

Nothstein goes red in his first final round and Harker collects his third National event Wally.

Hehehehe that was quite a wild ride indeed.... the swinging from side to side was a bit deja-vu to me, reminded me of Mansell at Adelaide 1986 when his rear tyre let go, and he weaved down the straight to stop it against the wall a klm. down the road. ;)
