Gibernau's Team Quits... Field down to 17.
« on: July 14, 2009, 10:33:06 am »

Gibernau's Team throws in the towel.

News in is stating that Sete Gibernau's MotoGP team has pulled out of the world championship and will not be present at this weekend's German Grand Prix.

The Francisco Hernando Group, who brought the team into the championship for the start of the this season, has announced that it is pulling out of the sport due to financial reasons.

The team said in a statement:

"Grupo Francisco Hernando will not complete the 2009 season.  The reasons for this termination is the world's crisis. The Group has decided to concentrate on its investments, focusing all its efforts in its projects as a promoter and constructor."

Gibernau, who came out of retirement to ride for the team has hardly shaken the sport with his performances, scoring just 8 points from 12 starts.  None the less he was surprised of the team's decision.  I dont know why really.  He spends more time on his bum in the gravel and has yet to get a decent result. ;)

The sad part is that it reduced the Moto GP field to just 17 bikes in the major class now.

The sad part is that some no hopers rich guys buy a team and as soon as it does not yield results get out. I hate that even in F1. That's why I am vary of privateers.
