Should be an interesting race tonight. Not sure that the undercut will work here as in other races. Tyre degradation also looks to be significantly different to other tracks. Hopefully Mark can get off the line and stay in front of Teflonso and jump Button for a Red Bull 1,2.

It was on the little TV thing on the left hand side. Pretty interesting show.

I had a laugh when they were interviewing him and Ann about the day after the crash in Valencia. Ann said to him the following morning something like "we're organising something down at Mentomore" - Mark said to her "where's mentmore?" ... he was concussed during the crash.

Mark and Ann own a pub - just down the road from their place - at Mentmore.

Can't wait for it, hopefully it's an exciting race!

BTW surprised no one has posted this up:

James Hunt summed it up perfectly: "Well, we've got this ridiculous situation where we're all sitting by the start-finish line waiting for a winner to come past and we don't seem to be getting one!"

  • Because in a split second, it's gone-Ayrton Senna
Monster start from Alonso and now chaos reigns in the pits. What the hell is it with Webber's luck?

Go Jensen.

Red  flag.

It was a great race between Vettel, Alonso and Button up until that point.

Certainly was.... as far as I'm concerned if you need to put out the 'brown flag'  :redflag: when a race has gone far enough to declare full points, you just don't go and restart it.

If they'd only done say 40 laps, then it should get restarted, but not when you've done all but 7 laps.

It looks like a six lap sprint to the finish..... as long as there is no more carnage.

In my opinion it was the most interesting race of the season................ until the red flag.

After that, with the front runners able to replace their tyres, the result is pretty much irrelevant from a racing point of view.

Good on Webber for the recovery and his last lap passing effort.

An interesting race....up to a point.

I'm assuming pitcrews got blind drunk last night, and hadn't recovered?

All the luck goes to SV, who dodged a dozen bullets to get pole, then the win.
Frankly, 2011 is his year.

Yeah, I reckon there'll be a lot of questions going on in a few teams after some of those earlier pit stops.

Amazing how lucky one side of the RBR garage is versus how unlucky the other side is. :(

In my opinion allowing the teams to change tyres on the track for the restart destroyed the race. (O.k. I suppose safety issues could have been a concern).

If they are allowing that they probably should just hand the race to whoever was in first position when the red flag dropped because, at a track like Monaco, that is effectively what this rule does. Whoever was leading should have just been declared the winner at that stage.

A waste of time for the fans and I'm not sure why FOM's "broadcast commitments" didn't get in the way of the restart anyway.

Lucky for some..........

Hamilton is really in the poo's at the moment.

Hamilton apologised to stewards for outburst

Hamilton apologised to stewards for outburst

Sunday 29th May 2011

McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh says Lewis Hamilton chose to visit the stewards after the race to explain his 'Ali G' remark, which Whitmarsh described as a 'poor joke'.

In an interview with the BBC, Hamilton accused the FIA stewards of being racist towards him, as he's been called before them on a number of occasions this season.

"I've been to the stewards, out of six races, five times. It's a joke, a fricken joke," he said, adding: "Maybe it's because I'm black... that's what Ali G says."

Whitmarsh revealed that he later returned to explain himself, adding that the explanation was accepted and he won't face any sanction.

"Immediately after the race he was very down, and during a post-race TV interview he made a poor joke about his penalties that referenced Ali G.

"However, I’m pleased to say that he chose to return to the track a little while later to speak to the stewards about the joke. They accepted his explanation."

Hamilton was handed two penalties for his hand in two accidents on Sunday, but managed to keep his sixth place following the second.

Um Hammers; as far as I know the comedian who plays Ali G ain't even coloured. A bit of a PR disaster there mate..........

I'm surprised that the Red Flag rule is still around,it was originally(as most of you know) designed so Teams could fit Wets, makes a mockery of everything.

That is a shocking rule isn't it
They should have been able to either pit and join the back of the field as in the case of a safety car or have blankets put on the tyres fitted at the time
Not as silly as the sight of mechanics fixing a rear wing assembly...that was truly bizarre
Felt sorry for Button , came a gutser with the first saftely just pitting before and then sitting there watching everybody on the start line changing the tyres!
Compare and contrast his teamates reaction to the days events...........
