Mark Webber v Red Bull
« on: July 11, 2010, 07:29:50 am »
Red Bull has a new specification front wing at Silverstone, which was run by both drivers in Friday practice. In final practice on Saturday morning, however, Vettel's wing dropped forward on its mounting point and was damaged. The team possessed only two and, ahead of qualifying, Webber's was removed and installed on Vettel's car.

another kick in the teeth for Mark.
I had thought when de seb was raising his index finger after his triumphs, he was signaling that he was first. I'm now starting to think he is signaling the letter 'I', well I was always taught that there is no I in team but apparently this red bull team has got one.
kick some dogs when they are down and they stay down . kick another and it may stand up and rip your leg off.
god i hope webber wins tonight , not just for him , but to stick it fair up his teams backside

ps.
considering the stand point of "taking one for the team".i just thought I'd point out that this red bull team doesn't even have the decency of supplying webber with ky anymore

Yep, Horner denies a stitch up, and I guess what they did sort of makes sense seeing as Vettel is in front of Webber in the championship, but to take it off his car and put it on Vettels for qualy was a good kick in the nuts.

Karma will get you Vettel, and i hope it's in the form of a crap start, bogged down and Webber takes the lead.

Yeah; this Horner thing is beginning to sound like so much Red  :bull: :siht:.

You could tell from Webber's face in the post-qualifying that the whole thing smelled of some rotten German cheese.....

I hope the Webmaster blows the German dude off; totally.

Red Bull deny Webber updated front-wing

Red Bull deny Webber updated front-wing

Saturday 10th July 2010

Mark Webber was left with a bitter taste in his mouth on Saturday as Red Bull came under yet more fire for favouring Sebastian Vettel.

The Milton Keynes based team only had time to manufacture two new front-wings for the British GP - one for either driver.

An incident in third free practice saw Vettel damage his. Instead of reverting him back to the previous model for qualifying, the team removed the updated wing from Webber's car, giving it to Vettel and fitting the old wing to the Australian's car.

Team principal, Christian Horner, said the decision was made as he felt a duty to provide the championship leader with the latest parts.

"Unfortunately sometimes I have to make difficult decisions – and with only one wing available and the facts to hand that we had, and based on championship position – which was the criteria that we used – that wing went to Sebastian today," he told the BBC.

This comes just weeks after the team blamed Webber when the two collided in Turkey, when clearly, according to many fans, pundits, commentators and ex-drivers, that Vettel was to blame.

all I'm going to say is, blatant favoritism of Vettel at Red Bull :siht: they might as well re-name the team Vettel Red Bull, that will help keep the little :siht: around.

I hope that wing falls off just like in practice, on the last lap, with Vettel leading, and he loses the lead and points

Unlike everyone else, Webber can say
"Redbull didn't give him wings!"

Mark is a great guy but:
The team designs, builds and pays the bills and the drivers not inconsiderable salaries.
The team has the right to make whatever decision it wants, be it for marketing, ability or promotional reasons.
End of story.
Edit: A bit over the top maybe but what I am trying to say is that this is a team sport and in the end the team leadership must be entitled to make the strategic and tactical decisions.

What I cannot believe is they turn up to a grand prix, absolute spitting distance from home base and have us believe they turn up with only 2 new designed front wings!
It has to be the most likely component to be damaged in a crash and they only have 2 WTF!
If they have made a mould then surely they could have done more than 2?
Funny if Vettel loses his and they find a new spec one for him to fit during the race though
Try explaining that Horner!
Red Bull is lucky that being the British Grand Prix the majority of the press is really only interested in Button and Bernie's Bint Hamilton and thus will avoid serious questioning

yes they are entitled to make those decisions, but at what cost ? they have totally demoralized one of there drivers and his side of the garage, for what? red bull were about .6 sec ahead of any other rival in real pace during practice ,what was the new front wing worth in time ? i think not a great deal really maybe .1 guessing ,so they have destroyed any thread of team comradeship for bugger all, apart to favor one part of a TEAM dr seb. if that is how management of a TEAM thinks, to me it is not much of a team but an organization devoted to one outcome

I agree with you OT it is a team sport but that makes it inclusive, all the elements of the team are important if the teams is to progress.

I've got to say I'm a lottle sick of hear this favoritism tag being bandied around, waken up people Vettel is the future of this sport. Mark is a good pilot but he's getting on now, and has stated that he wont hang around the sport like all the journey men that have and still are in F1. Marks done very well, he's won a few races and I'm sure he will win a few more, but at the end of the day the team are investing in the future and I can't say I blame them.

Best thing for Mark to do tonight is get a good get away from the dirty side of the track and take Vettel in to turn 1 and romp off in to the distance.

I have to say I find myself in the unusual position of agreeing with James Allen. :o

He thinks Red Bull should have handled this any other way so the team could look good no matter which driver was "advantaged" or "disadvantaged"..

I agree with him.........
