Race Preview

Will Power won the 2010 Honda Indy Toronto, and he was joined on the podium by Dario Franchitti and Ryan Hunter-Reay. Justin Wilson, the pole sitter, led a field-high 32 laps but spun on Lap 72 and Power took control for his fourth victory of the season.

Franchitti won both the inaugural IZOD IndyCar Series race on the streets of Toronto and the championship in 2009. Franchitti’s victory was the first time in 13 seasons that the winner of the 10th race was also won the championship.

The 11-turn, 1.75-mile (2.84km) circuit, which offers great views of downtown Toronto, is tight and has led to cars attempting to squeeze past each other in turns. Many times, only one makes it out unscathed. A long frontstretch leading into the Turn 1 Princes Gate, a hard right-hander, is a great place for overtaking.
