WRC to use new F1 points system

Wednesday, February 10th 2010, 10:51 GMT

The World Rally Championship will adopt the same top ten scoring system to be used by Formula 1 this year.

The measure has been put in place immediately after a fax vote by the World Motor Sport Council and the WRC entrants, so will apply from the season-opening Rally Sweden, which commences tomorrow night.

The top ten drivers on each rally will now score using the 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1 method that F1 has switched to for 2010.

This system will be used for the individual class competitions - for Junior, Production and S2000 runners - within the WRC as well.
They just want to make Kimi feel right at home..........  ;)

2011 WRC calendar plan revealed

2011 WRC calendar plan revealed

Saturday, February 20th 2010, 20:02 GMT

AUTOSPORT's sources have revealed a 14-round 2011 World Rally Championship calendar which will be put forward to the World Motor Sport Council meeting in Bahrain next month.

Among the most interesting inclusions is understood to be a brand new rally in Abu Dhabi, which looks to have replaced Jordan as the Middle East event on the schedule. The Yas Marina-based event will run as an official candidate rally - complete with specifically constructed roads through the desert - in December.
Is it just me or does all motorsport seem to be finding a permanent home in the Middle East?

F1, V8SC's and now WRC? What next?

I'll be honest, I've never been able to watch a rally in it's entirety (spelling?), aside from the X-Games rally. And, I know that there are two rallies that take place in the US, 1 which is in the southeastern states, and 1 in Utah? Anyway, I think it would be a great idea if the WRC were to ever add an event in the US. By the way, my favorite rally driver is Ken Block.
