I found about it on Youtube, and I'm from the Sunshine State, Queensland. Brisbane to be exact.
I'm Aussie and proud of it, too.

Im from Melbourne. I found this forum via youtube and also when viewing one of those spam threads on the RPM forums. I raced karts for about 3 years, went to my first motor racing event at the age of 7, it was an ATCC round at Sandown in 1995. I study mechanical engineering.

Welcome Dan.
A couple of us old farts need a few people who have a handle on the theory and practice behind the latest technology, so please don't hesitate to correct us when we interpret the latest developments incorectly.
Ant interest in SAE by the way. We have a few enthusiasts around here.

Im still pretty early in my studies but I do hope to get involved with SAE in a couple of years. I think it would be quite intresting and I do have a bit of an intrest in getting involved in motor racing through engineering.

Howdy! From one RMIT student to another!

I'm an Aerospace Engineering undergrad, currently completed 3rd year, and soon to be working overseas and then completing my studies in 2010.

You'll love and hate the degree. The first year and a half is common with Mech, Auto, Aero and Manu Eng. The people I know doing the Mech Eng degree seem to like it, which I can't unfortunately say for the Aero degree! :D

I highly recommend you get in touch with the FSAE guys as soon as you can or feel comfortable to. The FSAE student head, Ben, is a really great guy and they're always looking for more people.

Oh and if you get into the degree, the 3rd and 4th years are in Bundoora :D lol

I'm here!  Yes... the guy who's the creator and host of "JohnMarineTube" on YouTube has officially landed on the Australian Motorsports Forums.  I was invited on behalf of "AMFRaceDay" on YouTube.

More information on me can be seen on my homepage at http://www.myspace.com/johnbmarine and http://www.youtube.com/JohnMarineTube .  But the basics of me... I am 26 years old born and raised from Houston, Texas, USA.  I live here in America, but I've apparently gotten some attention by Australian racing fans for my videos in regards to my own thoughts on various kinds of Australian racing.  It began with my "Why Should You Care?" video on Bathurst, followed by how much Oran Park will be missed from Australian motorsport, my own ideas of Gran Turismo 5 speculation on racing in Australia and New Zealand, and stuff like that.

Now I was reading a few comments with my videos being linked.  I don't think I'll be a regular on here, but I'll contribute whatever I can.  The unique thing for me is that I've been respected for having an American perspective on Australian motorsport.  I've pleased some Australian people in the fact that Australian motorsport is liked by people outside of Australia.  Or in my case, Australian motorsport liked by people at least 8,500+ miles northeast of Australia.

Anyhow, I'm glad to be here.  Love my videos and my channel?  Then, join my JohnMarineTube fan clubs on Myspace and Facebook!

Hi! Welcome to AMF. Great to see you get involved.

There a some guys down under here on the forum that follow all the US motorsport IRL, NASCAR, ALMS and NHRA (just to name few) so it's a real pleasure to see a north American fan on the boards.

Cheers!

I just voted for the "International" thing, noting I'm from Houston, Texas, USA.  Yes... I'm at least 8,000+ miles northeast of Australia.  I can't translate to kilometers for you.  There is somewhat a link between Houston and Australia because the city of Perth, Western Australia, Australia is a Sister City of Houston that we're twinned with.  But even thousands of miles away, I'm basically closer to any place on Earth by way of the Internet.

Glad to be here.

8000+ miles = 12800 km roughly

1 mile is really close to 1.6 km so just keep that in mind
also 60M is about 100km

A nice thing I want to note about this message board... I like that Australian Motorsport Forums car at the bottom of each page.  Not sure if it's supposed to be a Holden Commodore or a Ford Falcon, but it's nice.  Always thought it was a Falcon.  But it's a nice picture.

« Reply #99 on: May 08, 2009, 08:33:55 pm »
What I want to know is, how members on these forums found the Amf forums, when they first signed up. I found this site on the when website forums when someone mentioned this site, from there i had a look at it and i liked the look of it and i signed up from there.
