GearboxAlmost exclusively Formula Ford cars use a 4 speed Hewland racing gearbox transaxle. Classic Formula fords use primarily the MK 8 & 9 boxes. These have no limited slip differentials but all the gear ratios are interchangeable, for different circuits around the country. Typically to race at all the circuits in the UK you would require up to 20 different ratios.
