Bathurst 12hr 2010
« on: August 01, 2009, 08:26:16 pm »
Some interesting changes for next years 12hr have just been put up on the web site.
It's been moved forward a week to Feb 14th to clear a bigger gap to Clipsal
The main change is in the eligibilty list.
They've dropped the treatened BMW M3, but have now included what they call an invitation class which will replace the previous Sports class which had been eliminated in earlier paperwork. Has some interesting listings including Chev Camaro???
Another interesting little small print item is that where only the automatic version of a particular model is imported into Australia, the overseas manual model MAY be considered provided there are no other differences.
Have a look at the eligibility list and come up with your prefered Evo Eater.

Magic zim.
Went this year. Great racing both in the supports and the 12hr itself.
And Bathurst with some varied and interesting machinery, a lot of top drivers, but with the sort of access and friendly atmosphere you only normally get at a club meeting.
And the socialising in the camping area is great too.

Now you are talking.  That would get a decent crowd in.  I enjoy Bathurst and have been a few times also.  Short of racing there again (at support level) it would need more than the V8's to get me back there. TBH 1000k's hardly classes as endurance these days.  I reckon the V8's needs to be 12 hours to up the ante a bit.

But Le Mans cars..... I would be there like a shot, even if it was only a 1000k race.

Well despite the dire state of the world the Armor All Bathurst 12 hour has a 47 strong field.

Included in the field are Alfa Romeo, BMW, Ford, Holden, Honda, Lotus, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Renault, Subaru and Toyota will tough out the showroom showdown, with outright honours likely to be settled between the Evo, Impreza, Typhoon, GTS and the new Shelby Mustang GT500.

Not a bad line up and not to mention 2 lambo's as the pace cars!

I Am not really a big fan of this coverage at the moment. Pretty crap replays and not showing enough racing but showing tones of interviews haha
