IRace Lakeside Round 4
« on: June 13, 2010, 07:11:47 pm »
I went to Lakeside today for the first time and I tell ya it's 10 times better than Queensland Raceway!!!  Loads more action!!! But I can also see why they left Lakeside as there is only just a little tiny dirt road getting into the track... Which is a shame they can't upgrade it :(

Anyway here are some photos

Videos up soon  :)

We could have told you that.... Lakeside is a great little place.

It's all been resurfaced over the last few years, so the character of the track has changed a bit, such as the main straight and the kink in it have been widened quite a bit. Back in the old days only the best could hold it flat through the kink, and wasn't that common to have two cars side by side going through there.

Although during one 2litre race, they had 3 cars side by side going through there.

No doubt now you'll be out there a lot more often. :)

There was a huge crowed for this event also, I was suprsied to see so many people just watching a Club Race and on top off that there where tones of people at the Go Karts also so yeah they probably had over 5,000 people there maybe? lol

Magic Circuit.
Talking about crowds as I recall they attracted around 60,000 for the AGP when it was held there as part of the Tasman Series, and matched that for the single race ATCC won y Pete Geoghan later on.
That figure may have been exceeed for some of the ATCC rounds held there, particularly in the Moffatt, Brock, Johnson era. Looking out over the back of the cicuit right round from Torana Hill down through the back of Hungry up to the top of the look was just solid people.
Great Circuit, great viewing, and a real challenge to drive, deserves it's Heritage status.
