Oran Park Farewell "The end of an era"
« on: November 18, 2009, 08:47:36 am »
This is the last and apart from all the categories jumping on the bandwagon advertising the last, THIS IS THE FINALE FOR ORAN PARK. The bulldozers run through 1 week later.
Well what else can i say but NOOOOOO !
Typical NSW govt after land grab.

WHEN : JANUARY 23 / 24, 2010
(prac Friday 22nd)

Whats on ? - dont know yet but appears that it will be an 'open' events meet, with different categories taking part.
If you are a driver and would like to take part visit Oran Park Website and register your interest.

Who's there ? - dont know yet neither, but will appear to be a high calibre drivers past & present making appearances. All paying their respects to the best circut track in Australia !

RIP ORAN PARK

It's a real shame that one of Australians great traditional tracks is about to get the dirt. Most of the New South Wales tracks like for Oran Park for e.g. have really not lasted that long,

Warwick Farm got the boot so did Eastern Creek but it's still open just not to V8Supercars.

Up to around 10 Tracks in New South Wales have got the boot, for the Sydney 500 i would not be surprised if it does not last longer than 20years at less.

I don't think the Sydney 500 will gain popularity down the track as more people look to the traditional road courses and not street tracks.

This will be a big loss to me, even though I've never had the pleasure of driving it. I have been to Oran Park every year since I was 6 years old. The first time I was there, the famous Larkham, Morris and Perkins start crash happened right in front of me. Ever since then I have been to every V8 Supercar race there except 2007, and I have also been there lots of other times for drifting (my brother also drifts there), car shows and the old Pro Car championship. What really annoys me is that there is hundreds, even thousands of acres that are empty around Oran Park to build houses on, but they just had to build right on the track now didn't they  This will be a big part of my life gone

I'm sure I went to "the very last" event at Oran park a couple of years ago..... :hmm: ;) :laugh2:

Pity to see the place go, and yes - planning in NSW is a joke. :pissed:

Real shame this track is going. I've known it was coming since about 2003 so it's no surprise but still i'm not ready for it to actually get bulldozed. Just glad to go to the last V8 round and also the last National Round at the track which was the Shannons Nationals. We even went to the last state round and house frames were being constructed down at turn 1 and turn 2. So I knew it must be close.

I uploaded a lot of Oran Park stuff on my youtube profile from the V8's and also a little bit from the Independent race series, but there will be more i'll upload of the Shannons Nationals at some point. www.youtube.com/user/mad94d.

This was my first attempt at a video ever, just a quick Oran Park "Tribute" in a way using all my own footage from the last round.

Oh really! That's pretty cool, thanks for watching my videos by the way I appreciate it. I mostly uploaded all the raw footage just because I like to hear the actual track atmosphere, saying that compilations are good too, just sometimes I like to hear what it actually sounds like at the track.

But again, thanks for watching!

As I was near by I heard the roar of a few cars giving it the beans at Oran Park, I popped in to see the last time any car will hit the track at 'max chat'. A bitter sweet day for a lot of people. I'm gutted I couldn't get my car ready in time. :(

That said, everyone looked like they were having a ball!
