As in the :Ch7: telecast thread, if not for the grid marshall's doing their job properly, we could have had a monumental incident at the start of this race... pity mattytroll white couldn't be bothered to thank the people that not only saved the HRT bacon, but no doubt others in the field from something that could've been a whole lot worse than the Larkham/Morris incident at Oran Park.

A Safety Car for a couple of geese that have walked out on to the track ??

This doesn't bode well for Bathurst with the known issue of kangaroo's close by at most times.

I think we had PC working overtime in this case. :(

Whilst they may have scared them off the track area this time, what happens if they come back on the trackside with say 5 laps to go ?  :hmm:

I once clobbered a duck at around 120k. lot of damage to hood, screen and front end of roof.
Hate to think what twice as big at twice the speed would do!

The V8 got the safety car call right. Do you want to see cars retire after hit a geese. Do you WANT to see the geese hit

Fair enough but, you have to agree, in the context of a  V8SC :Ch7:, it is a bit comical. ;)

But agreed; I wouldn't want to see safety compromised or geese hurt.

I didn't want to see a car clouting a geese either, but I'm a bit skeptical whenever some non-crash related SC occurs these days, particulary after the Darwin Holden flag on the track requiring a SC a few years back.

They'd certainly cause a heap of damage to a race car at speed, but turn 4 is probably the lowest speed section of the track where it was best for them to have been.

Did anyone know where they did end up getting herded off to ?

Well just got back from the Island and I can tell you wherever the Geese were herded off to they made a leisurely wander across the traffic getting out of the corporate carpark and there were no officials or anybody trying to herd them up then....and they WERE big suckers and not very cooperative !

Anyone else think it was the most interesting V8SC race for a long time?
Had me watching to the end and that is getting unusual.

Sure it was a Team Vodafone 1-2 but still the racing was great!!

I think a lot of that might have something to do with the Island. It a great technical circuit and always provides good racing in all classes and formats.

At least it's much better than some rinky-dink street circuits that Cockhead  has the V8SC's rolling around.
