E11: Symmons Plains

Something very ordinary about two cars either losing wheels, or almost doing that.

Clearly something went very wrong with Murphy's car to lose that wheel, but very lucky that when it came off, it didn't bounce up in to the crowd there.

It's a pity  :Ch7: chose not to show where the wheel ended up, as I would've been very interested to see why we had to have a SC called for it, rather than a local  :cautionflag: to allow a marshall out to retrieve it. It did appear to have very poor marshall access to the DLHS of the track in that are due to catch fencing.

I have a very low expectations of VSC after their last blame everyone else efforts at the GC600. Reading the Auto Fiction report, the claim was that "Judges of Fact"  made the calls on the drive-thru's and  :badsport: for those shortcutting/kerbhopping, when the reality was that these JofF were told not to make anymore radio calls on the kerbhopping/shortcuts, as V8SC were going to handle it themselves. I heard one JofF make the suggestion that the whole field should recieve the  :badsport: for major kerbhopping, but the suggestion was not taken heed of.

I know for a fact that at least one JofF stopped recording those infringements as the reports were going to be ignored.

I was wondering that myself when I first glanced it, but thought I must have been wrong and meant to take another look at it.

The Proof!

WE'VE seen a range of allegations and accusations on social media over the last few days relating to Jamie Whincup not wearing a fireproof balaclava underneath his helmet on Sunday at Symmons Plains.

Whincup was not officially cited or investigated over the rumoured "infringement". Nonetheless, it was the duty of V8 Supercar officials to check the vision to ensure all teams and drivers are compliant with the rules.

So, with thanks to the crew at V8 Supercar Television, here's the vision that was not shown on the Seven Network TV coverage immediately after the race but completely debunks any rumours of theories that Whincup was not using all of the correct safety gear.

Of course, many fans remember the drama of Bathurst 2005, when Marcos Ambrose was black flagged to the pits after being found not to have been wearing a balaclava mid-race.

But the video here is proof that Whincup did nothing wrong last weekend.
So there you have it

Thanks for putting us all straight on it MM !

I knew he had a dark colour balaclava, which is why it made it noticeable to many when some shots showed his neck under the helmet was 'skin coloured'.

How and why it appeared that way to many is just unknown at this stage.

If you look when he takes his helmet of at the 0:05 his balaclava has a V shape to the side
