Previously a driver or car that caused a red flag during qualifying would keep their fastest lap but not be allowed to participate in the remainder of the session.

This year any driver that causes a red flag during qualifying will not only be excluded from taking part in the rest of the session, but they will also have their fastest lap excluded.
Thanks for the heads up CW.

Sounds fair enough to me. Is it?

I think that's takin it a bit far. How it was before was perfect IMO, because now more drivers would play it safe rather than go all out once they banked a lap time in.

It's a bit like the old Chump Car :champcar: rule I think ... stop a qualy session, and not only were you out for the remainder of the session, but you lost your fastest lap too.

Yeah, it'd certainly make for a very long race if you hadn't put in a half decent time earlier on.

But, I would think that there would be a few drivers that would take a risk
